The Religious Society of Friends, also known as Quakers, believes that everyone has an inner light. Quakers minister to themselves and to the greater world by “holding those in need in the Light.” Their ministry is one of stillness as they expectantly wait for a call from Spirit—not necessarily God with a capital “G”— for something they feel compelled to share with all. This is not just a verbal expression: ideally it is a leading from spiritual darkness to action. The communal stillness in worship provides a way to focus love for all: all people, all beings, and even the world itself.
